Jenessa is 512 Swim Co.’s founder, owner and lead instructor. She is a Central Texas transplant, originally from the Texas Gulf Coast. Growing up in Corpus Christi, swimming played a large part in her everyday life. She spent most of her childhood summers at the beach, on the boat, in a pool, taking swimming lessons, on a swim team or as a junior lifeguard.
Although she has a diverse professional background, one common theme has remained: her passion for working with children! She has a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Early Childhood Education and Development from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. She spent over a decade as a Certified Preschool, Kindergarten and Middle School Mathematics educator. As a Certified Texas Educator, she has worked in both the public and private school settings; as well as with a diverse population of students, including children with special needs and GT students. After deciding to go back for her Masters in Child Life at Texas Woman’s University, she began working for a South Texas children’s hospital in the Outreach and Communications capacity. It was during this time that she became a Certified Lactation Consultant, a Child Passenger Safety Technician and an advocate for children with special needs. She currently works for a Central Texas University connecting children to mental health resources, through Central Texas School Systems and Family Providers.
Jenessa is a Certified Survival Swim Instructor through the Survival Swim Development Network. She has successfully completed a background check and is a Basic Life Support Provider (CPR, AED and First Aid), certified by the American Heart Association, Texas Educator, Certified Lactation Consultant, Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and Child Life Specialist.
“No one can ever be ‘too good’ at swimming – look at Michael Phelps, he’s an Olympian who still strives to become a better swimmer!”
