Kate Juarez

Growing up in San Diego California, Kate learned to swim in a backyard pool at a young age and participated on a junior swim team when she was 7.  Later she was an assistant swim teacher, lifeguard for special education students and has taught traditional swim lessons since 2005.  Feeling a need for fresh ideas in her approach to teaching and getting requests to teach infant survival lessons, she began researching the requirements to teach these specialized classes.  After speaking with other survival swim instructors she became more and more convinced that this was the solid foundation students needed before learning stoke.

Kate loves working with children of all ages and abilities and desires to see children and adults alike learn to be safe and confident in and around the water. She teaches through Baby Otter Swim Academy, currently serving Knoxville and the surrounding communities.
