Jan's Survival Swim

Jan Dollar

My name is Jan Dollar. I am a teacher in Conroe ISD and my husband, son, and I live in Magnolia, TX.

For 10 years I have been teaching swim lessons during my summer breaks. However, I only taught children ages 3 and older, having an incorrect presumption that children younger than 3 were not ready to learn how to swim. When my husband and I decided to put a pool in our backyard for my swim lessons, my first worry was about how we were going to keep our 6 month old son safe from the danger of drowning.

It was at that time that I started researching infant survival swim instruction and became inspired by the stories from the Survival Swim Development Network℠. I knew immediately that I wanted to be trained so that I could properly teach children, including my son, survival swim techniques starting at 6 months of age! I became a certified Survival Swim instructor this past summer and will begin teaching private Swim Float Survive℠ lessons starting in June 2021!
